Caribbean Dry Rub
Taste the flavors of the islands with this spice blend.
Ingredients
- 30 g (2 Tablespoons) kosher salt, optional
- (2 Tablespoons) dried thyme
- (1 teaspoon) ground allspice
- (2 teaspoons) red pepper flakes
- (1 teaspoon) garlic powder
- (½ teaspoon) ground cloves
- (¼ teaspoon) dry mustard
- 100 g (½ cup) coconut sugar [or date sugar]
Directions
- Place all ingredients into the Vitamix container in the order listed and secure the lid.
- Start the blender on its lowest speed, then quickly increase to its highest speed. Blend for 10 seconds, using the tamper to push ingredients toward the blades.
Chef's Notes
- Use this dry rub to make amazing jerk chicken, roasted vegetables or as a general seasoning.Using alternative sugars and lowering the overall amount used versus a traditional seasoning is a great way to start creating healthier dishes.
