Hazelnut Hot Chocolate

A mixture of hazelnuts and cocoa powder make this beverage a chocolate sensation.

Hazelnut Hot Chocolate

Ingredients

  • ½ cup (70 g) toasted hazelnuts
  • 2 Tablespoons raw cashews
  • ½ cup (40 g) cocoa powder
  • 10 (90 g) dates, pitted
  • 3 cups (720 ml) Almond Milk [or milk alternative]

Directions

  1. Place all ingredients into the Vitamix container in the order listed and secure the lid.
  2. Run the Hot Soup Program or start the blender on its lowest speed, then quickly increase to its highest speed.  Blend for 5 minutes 45 seconds.

Chef's Notes

  • To toast raw hazelnuts, simply place on a baking sheet and into a 300°F (180°C) oven for 10-15 minutes, watching them carefully and removing when they are golden brown.
  • If you want to enhance the flavor of this hot chocolate with a unique twist, try adding a pinch of chili powder, cinnamon, or a splash of vanilla extract to the drink before serving.
