Oat Milk

Oat Milk is a delicious and creamy, nut-free alternative to traditional plant-based milks.

Ingredients

  • ½ cup (90 g) steel cut oats, soaked for 4 hours, drained, rinsed
  • 6 cups (1.2 l) cold water

Directions

  1. Place the oats and water into the Vitamix container and secure the lid.
  2. Start the blender on its lowest speed, then quickly increase to its highest speed. Blend for 30-45 seconds. Remove and strain through a fine mesh strainer.

Chef's Notes

  • You can customize the taste of this dairy free milk by adding dates, vanilla extract, salt or all three if you desire. We have tested soaked steel cut, raw steel cut, soaked rolled and raw rolled oats and find the steel cut oats soaked and blended briefly had the least amount of sliminess to the finished product. Seal and refrigerate for up to 5 days. Sediment from the milk will form at the bottom, shake well before use.

  1. Place the oats and water into the Vitamix container and secure the lid.
  2. Start the blender on its lowest speed, then quickly increase to its highest speed. Blend for 1 minute.  Remove and strain through a fine mesh strainer, if desired.
