Matcha Banana Nice Cream

Matcha and spirulina are the secret ingredients in this bowl that lend it a vibrant color and unique flavor.

Matcha Banana Nice Cream

Ingredients

  • ¾ cup (180 ml) almond milk
  • 1 Tablespoon matcha green tea powder
  • 1 ½ teaspoons spirulina, optional
  • 1 ½ cups (45 g) baby spinach
  • ¾ pound (340 g) frozen bananas
  • ¾ pound (340 g) frozen mango chunks

Directions

  1. Place all ingredients into the Vitamix container in the order listed and secure the lid.
  2. Select the Frozen Dessert program. Start the blender and allow the program to complete, using the tamper to press ingredients toward the blades.
  3. In about 30-60 seconds, the sound of the motor will change and four mounds should form. Stop the machine. Do not over mix or melting will occur. Serve immediately.

Chef's Notes

  • If spirulina is unavailable or matcha is undesired, they can be omitted but you’ll miss this smoothie bowl’s signature bright green color. However, it will still be nutrient-packed and delicious!
  • The spirulina and matcha really amp up the minerals and antioxidants in this beautifully colored treat.

  • ½ pound (227 g) frozen mango chunks

  2. Run the Frozen Dessert Program or start the blender on its lowest speed, then quickly increase to its highest speed. Blend for 50-60 seconds, using the tamper to push ingredients toward the blades.
  3. In about 25-35 seconds, the sound of the motor will change and four mounds should form. Stop the machine. Do not over mix or melting will occur. Serve immediately.
