Apple-icious Whole Grain Cereal
Start your day with this sweet and hearty whole-grain cereal. Apples and cinnamon sweeten, while walnuts add texture.
Ingredients
- ¼ cup (50 g) brown rice, uncooked
- ¼ cup (50 cups) whole wheat kernels
- ¼ teaspoon salt, optional
- 1 cup (240 ml) water
- ½ cup (120 ml) apple cider
- 1 Tablespoon ground cinnamon
- ½ medium apple
Directions
- Place rice, wheat and salt, optional into the Vitamix DRY BLADE container and secure lid.
- Start the blender on its lowest speed, then quickly increase to Variable 7. Blend for 15 seconds, using the tamper to push ingredients toward the blades.
- Place liquid ingredients and cinnamon into a sauce pan and bring to a boil. Stir in wheat and rice mixture. Reduce heat to low and simmer covered for 20 minutes. Add apples and walnuts to the wheat/rice mixture with 5 minutes left in the cooking process.
