Spicy Bloody Mary Base

Balancing sweet, spicy, savory, and sour can make this your ultimate Bloody Mary. To balance, taste the mix and decide what is missing. If you want it spicier or sweeter, just add the appropriate ingredient, blend, and taste again.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup (240 ml) vegetable stock [or water]
  • 1 can (794 g) whole peeled tomatoes
  • 2 (40 g) celery stalks
  • 1 medium (70 g) carrot
  • 1 garlic clove, peeled
  • ¼ cup (60 ml) malt vinegar
  • 6 (60 g) pepperoncini
  • 2 Tablespoons molasses
  • 2 teaspoons chili powder
  • 2 Tablespoons fresh horseradish [or prepared horseradish]

Directions

  1. Place all ingredients into the Vitamix container in the order listed and secure the lid.
  2. Run the Smoothie Program or start the blender on its lowest speed, then quickly increase to its highest speed. Blend for 40-50 seconds, using the tamper to push ingredients toward the blades.

  • To make a version with alcohol, just add vodka. Garnish with flair.
