Green Tea Spice Blend
Green tea adds a light earthy note to this spice blend. Overall the blend is slightly sweet, nutty and approachable. Add or omit whatever spice you'd like to make it your own, but this is our favorite!
Ingredients
- 1 cup (130 g) kosher salt
- ½ cup (20 g) green tea
- 2 Tablespoons (15 g) black peppercorns
- 1 Tablespoon granulated garlic
- 2 Tablespoons (10 g) dried onion flake
- 2 teaspoons lemon peel
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme
- ½ teaspoon fennel seed
- ½ teaspoon dried oregano
Directions
- Place all ingredients except the kosher salt into the Vitamix container in the order listed and secure the blade base.
- Start the blender on its lowest speed, then quickly increase to variable 8. Blend for 15 seconds. Remove the mixture from the container and mix into the bowl of kosher salt. Store in jar.
Chef's Notes
- Adding flavorful whole food ingredients to salt enhances the overall flavor of the dish and often time, you end up using less salt. This is great for people watching their sodium intake; a little can go a long way!
- Make this into a wonderful holiday gift by jarring it and labeling.
