A Vitamix can handle the toughest ingredients with ease thanks to its precision-cut stainless steel blades and high-performance motor. To take advantage of your machine’s blending capabilities, follow the three steps below for proper speed control.
Vitamix Speed Control
- Step 1: Start Slow - When starting your blend, begin at a low speed (1 or 2) and hold for a few seconds. This allows the blades to “grab” the ingredients and prevents your ingredients from exploding up and sticking to the top of the container.
- Step 2: Speed Up - The higher the speed, the smoother the blend. Use low speeds for things like chunky salsa. Otherwise, crank it up for silky smoothies and fine purées. In fact, high speeds actually draw in more air to cool the motor and preserve its life.
- Step 3: Continue Blending - It’s simple. Just keep blending for the duration specified by your recipe. Most recipes are finished in under 60 seconds. However some recipes, such as hot soups, require several minutes of high-powered blending.
