MEISTRICH’S NEHST RACES AHEAD
RUNNING AMERICA A CASE STUDY OF A NEW PRODUCTION MODEL
New York, NY, September 12, 2008…Larry Meistrich’s NEHST Studios will start principal photography tomorrow morning on RUNNING AMERICA, the documentary that will follow ultra-marathon runners Charlie Engle and Marshall Ulrich as they make a record-breaking run across the United States.
The endeavor, which begins in San Francisco on September 13th and ends on or before October 27th in New York City, follows Engle’s run across the Sahara Desert, which served as the focus of the documentary Running The Sahara. Shot by Academy-Award-winning documentary filmmaker James Moll, Running The Sahara is set to be released by NEHST just as Engle and Marshall finish the cross-country U.S. follow up.
Meistrich is currently developing a fresh new spin on how film’s are produced and released into the marketplace. He has positioned NEHST as a forward-thinking company that exists on multiple platforms, incorporating brands, charities and the community – and RUNNING AMERICA is the perfect example of this business model. The project brings together brands such as Super 8, AXA, Vitamix and Champs Sports, while teaming up with United Way for a portion of the proceeds from the run and documentary going towards the United Way of America and their “Live United” campaign. The element of community is served as NEHST continues to grant access to those who wouldn’t normally have a chance by allowing them to be in the documentary and run alongside Engle and Marshall, simply by signing up via the RUNNING AMERICA site at www.runningamerica08.com. Additional projects can be accessed via NEHST’s casting website www.screentest.biz.
Having repeatedly been quoted as “working hard to help break down the Hollywood barriers and make sure other talented, aspiring filmmakers can take part in the industry as well,” Meistrich proves that his business philosophy works in the hiring of director Kevin Kerwin, who came to Meistrich’s attention through a NEHST boot camp and pitch session in Ohio. He is now giving him the chance of a lifetime as Kerwin prepares to direct RUNNING AMERICA. Overseeing the shoot is NEHST Studio’s President of Production Dana Offenbach with Kate O’Neil serving as line producer.
With the ambitious shoot for RUNNING AMERICA, the release of Running The Sahara, and a busy production slate, NEHST Studios clearly looks poised to be at the forefront of bringing the movie viewer into the actual experience of making a film. With this process, everyone has chance to become involved in making films and documentaries.
